Boycott Tumblr / Writing Woes

This no tumblr thing is annoying but also enlightening. Every time I get stuck with my story I have this urge to check out tumblr and see what's going on there. Then I remember today we're boycotting the site. Which is fine. It's the very least I can do. But, I'm finding I really want a distraction. So, here I am. I have a feeling this blog is going to be used much differently than my tumblr. You actually have to post something to participate for starters.

In the meantime, I'm struggling with my story. It's times like these it actually feels like writing takes work. It doesn't always just flow. I wish there was a way to have what you want to say just magically appear on paper. All your thoughts and feelings you can't quite find words for - just presto - on your page! I guess if it were that easy everyone would write.

Argh. I need to finish this before Thursday. I'm driving half-way across the country for Christmas and don't want this hanging over my head.

I’ve been feeling the same way. Of the channels I’ve joined since this whole Tumblr mess began, I haven’t found one that really replicated the way I used Tumblr. I loved the dash I had curated since I joined Tumblr in 2008, and starting over in a few different places, trying to find where the community is going to land, has been exhausting.

Yes! This. Exactly. I don't mind this exactly but its an adjustment I'm not quite on board with yet. tumblr was easy and very passive if you wanted it to be. I liked it as I could participate by reblogging but not having to come up with my own content. This is more demanding. It makes you think which is good but it's work I don't necessarily know if I'm ready to commit to! Although, it has been nice to see people's actual thoughts - like the exchange we're having right now. We need to get enough people here to make it a bigger exchange and then it might feel different. Right now I feel like I"m yelling into the void.
